# A funding portal ready for AI assistants.

> More and more businesses ask an AI assistant which grants they can apply for. We simplified the portal and made it readable by agents too, without touching theme or content.

## In brief

On a portal of grants and funding calls for businesses, we first simplified the site, migrating all 294 articles and removing redundant add-ons. Then we added the signals AI assistants look for: AI crawler rules and Content Signals in robots.txt, an llms.txt index and a clean text version of pages, in a plugin kept separate from the theme.

- **294** articles migrated to the new site
- **3** page-builder add-on packs removed
- **0** theme changes for the AI layer

## Context

The portal collects grants and funding opportunities and sells subscription plans to consultants and companies. The site had grown by layering: several add-on packs for the same page builder, third-party widgets for blog, pricing and carousels.

## The problem

Two problems at once. A site that was heavy to maintain, where updating one add-on could break a page. And a site built only for classic search engines: AI assistants reading the web to answer users found no indication of what they could read and use.

## What we did

1. **Clean-up first.** A simplified new site went live, the old one moved to a separate subdomain. Blog, archives and pricing pages rebuilt with the page builder's native widgets, no plugin added. All 294 articles migrated.
2. **Clear rules for AI crawlers.** Explicit rules for AI bots and Content Signals in robots.txt: what can be indexed, what can be used in answers, what can be used for training.
3. **An index for language models.** An llms.txt file that describes the site and points to the pages that matter, in a format a model reads in one go.
4. **A plugin, not a theme change.** The agent layer lives in a dedicated plugin, CF Agent Discovery: it updates as standards change and can be removed cleanly. Theme, page builder and existing plugins stay as they are.
5. **Measure before and after.** Readiness is measured with an independent tool, isitagentready.com, before and after the work.

## How it went

The new site is live, lighter, with one page builder and no redundant add-ons. We apply the same method, scan, fix, scan again, to the other sites we manage. We use it on this site too: cloudfactory.it has its own llms.txt and a text version of every case study.

## Tools

WordPress, Elementor Pro, WP-CLI, robots.txt, Content Signals, llms.txt, Cloudflare, Laravel Forge

## FAQ

### Does being agent-ready guarantee being cited by ChatGPT?

No. It's the technical precondition for an assistant to read and use the content correctly. Being cited also depends on quality, freshness and authority of the content.

### Does Google use llms.txt?

Google has said it doesn't use it for search. It serves the assistants and agents that do read it; it's cheap and doesn't interfere with classic SEO.

### Do we need a new website?

No. The plugin is added to the existing site. This portal's clean-up was the client's choice, useful but separate.
