From an Instagram comment to an email sequence.
For an online fitness brand we connected Instagram, ManyChat and Mailchimp: whoever comments a reel with a keyword gets the content by DM and joins the campaign's email sequence.
Each campaign has a keyword. ManyChat replies by DM, captures the email and passes it to WordPress through a bridge plugin we wrote; from there the contact lands in Mailchimp with the campaign tag and a four-email sequence with a dedicated coupon starts. New campaigns are created by duplicating an existing flow.
Context
The brand sells online training programmes and works heavily on Instagram. Campaigns start from a reel and live a few days: whoever responds has to enter the right path immediately, with no manual steps.
The problem
Linking a comment to an email sequence takes three platforms that don't talk on their own, with data that must arrive clean: a valid email, the right tag, the right coupon. A wrong tag sends the wrong message to the wrong person.
What we did
- 01
One flow per keyword
In ManyChat each campaign has its keyword and its flow: DM reply, the promised content, an email request.
- 02
A bridge on WordPress
A plugin, CF ManyChat > Mailchimp, receives data from ManyChat and writes it to Mailchimp with the campaign tag. API keys stay on the server.
- 03
Sequences and coupons
Four-email sequences per campaign, with coupons aligned between email and site. Four campaigns realigned where codes didn't match.
- 04
Beyond the free trial
In progress: automatic messages after the trial ends, at seven days and beyond, tied to the video platform running the subscription.
How it went
Campaigns are switched on by copying a flow: new keyword, new tag, new sequence. The brand's team publishes the reel, the rest starts by itself.

FAQ
Is a professional Instagram account required?
Yes, ManyChat works with professional Instagram accounts linked to a page.
Can the same be done on WhatsApp?
Yes, the logic is the same: an incoming message starts a flow and data reaches the email platform with the right tag. WhatsApp needs consent and approved message templates.
